When KTM ETS service was launched, it was operated by a fully-owned subsidiary of KTM Berhad, ET Sdn Bhd. According to the KTMB Chairman at that time, Dr. Aminuddin Adnan, the establishment of ET as a subsidiary of KTMB can create a more conducive environment, better work culture and discipline and role model to KTMB itself.
While ETS now is being operated directly as one of the services provided by KTMB, we think we still should share some of the details about the company when it was established many years ago. Here are the vision and mission of the subsidiary company:

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is just waiting for confirmation from Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat (SPAD) regarding the new intercity train service linking Ipoh to Padang Besar. The new service, also dubbed as Electric Train Service (ETS), will enable travelers to experience speed of up to 140 km/h during travel between Ipoh and Padang Besar.
The new ETS service will stop and prominent stations such as Butterworth, Alor Setar, Arau and Padang Besar. The fast journey is made possible by the recent completion of electrified double tracking (EDTP) project, which upgraded the rail infrastructure between Ipoh to Padang Besar from single rail to double rail. The upgrade enables fast train travel on both northbound and southbound direction, reducing delays greatly.
As of press time, KTMB has yet to release any pricing information regarding the ETS service.

KUALA LUMPUR APRIL 20th 2015: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will start operation in July 2015.
As press time, there is no information yet on fare and schedule. Since Kuala Lumpur – Ipoh route is fairly expensive in comparison with regular KTM Intercity service, the new ETS Ipoh – Padang Besar route is expected to charge similarly hefty price for a ticket.
The first ETS service from Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh commenced operation in August 12th 2010.
KUALA LUMPUR, December 17th 2014: RapidKL will add some new four-coach trainset to its existing KL Monorail fleet later this month.
The new four-coach trainsets have already undergone final testing rounds at the existing KL Monorail line, stopping at every stations. It is expected to reduce congestion commonly seen during peak hours, especially at stations such as Bukit Bintang and Imbi. The current ridership of KL Monorail stands at 72,000 and is expected to double after the new trainsets begin service (source).
Notable features of the new monorail include intercom for communications between passengers and train driver, CCTV on each coach, smoke detectors, top side windows that can be opened during emergency situations and LED station displays.
Near Medan Tuanku station, a new shopping mall has just been opened, which can increase the ridership of KL Monorail even further, considering its proximity with the station.
KTM Berhad (KTMB) has recently enabled passengers to pay for their e-Ticket booking via online banking portal, Maybank2u.
The addition of Maybank2u as the alternative payment method (the other only available payment method is by VISA/Mastercard credit/debit card) is seen to be more secure because users will need to log on to their online banking account and providing Transaction Authorization Code (TAC) for the transaction, on top of the usual username and password combination.
There is no booking fee charged for KTMB e-Ticket booking via this payment method. I have personally tried to use the Maybank2u payment method for my KTM Intercity ticket purchase and it worked perfectly.
For those who are booking their tickets, I would recommend to use Internet Explorer as your browser to ensure maximum compatibility.
Of note, after booking, there is no need to print the KTM Intercity e-Ticket. You can simply show your e-Ticket on your phone/tablet screen to the ticket inspector.
Other than KTM Intercity, e-Ticket is also available for ETS trains.
